Planning permission has just been granted for a new Red Squirrel Children`s Nursery at Dykes of Gray
Collaborating with Algo & The Red Squirrel Nursery, our design will introduce a new purpose built 67 children nursery located within the village centre at the new Dykes of Gray housing development. The internal areas of the building have been organised to maximise natural daylight to important spaces whilst allowing direct access between classroom and outdoor play areas. The massing and materiality are borrowed from an agricultural typology with the use of vertical boards and a highly insulated standing seam roof to create a modern building that fits well within the new housing development.
Former Dundee factory to become mental health hub
We are delighted to receive planning approval for our proposals at Locarno Works, Dundee. Working with Torridon Developments Ltd. and Wellbeing works, Dundee, our design respects the character of the building and allows it to be re-used as a ‘community hub’ for the charity who are relocating from their existing premises. The proposals will bring the existing building back into use, prevent further decline and help revitalise the area. To read article, press link below:

Say hello to our newest team member, Darren!
Darren has joined ABD as a Senior Architectural Technologist. He has over 25 years’ experience as a Technologist and has worked on a vast array of projects from large public buildings, schools and care homes to housing developments, extensions and renovations. He has a Master’s Degree in Advanced Sustainability in the Built Environment focused on low energy housing and has also gained his qualification in Prince 2 Project Management. Here at ABD he will be using his knowledge and experience to assist with the delivery of some exciting projects we are currently working on and help clients get the best out of their project.

We were excited to receive planning approval for this contemporary extension project on the outskirts of Perth.
The client approached us looking to turn their existing house that had become tired and outdated into a contemporary dwelling that would suit their modern lifestyle.
Creating an open plan kitchen/living/dining area that opens out onto a south facing deck area allows them to maximise natural sunlight into space and take full advantage of their rural setting. Amazing what can be done with some imagination.
