Our clients wished to modernise their home by altering the internal layout, extending the house into the garden and adding a new front entrance. The aim was to open up the house and create a contemporary open-plan kitchen and living room extension and external area.
The generous openings of the full-width rear extension’s elevation offer a seamless connection between the interior living space and outdoors. Large glass windows maximise solar gain, while the roof overhang avoids overheating in summer. Triple glazed windows and doors have been installed to maximise energy retention.
The roof of the extension was designed with a dynamic and angular asymmetrical form and installed using durable and low maintenance Anthra-Zinc from VMZINC. The roof features standing seam zinc facia and hidden gutters. High quality Iroko hardwood cladding is used on the soffits and walls.
