Small Business Units – The Village at Plot 14 Inverness Campus
We’re working with Highlands and Islands Enterprise on a different kind of business space at Inverness Campus. “The Village” is a location for smaller businesses to grow, connect and collaborate and we’ve designed the first two units.
The buildings are arranged around a shared space, with a pedestrian-first layout that encourages interaction between occupiers rather than just movement from A to B.
The units themselves are designed to adapt over time, whether that’s light manufacturing, studio space or office use, with efficient construction and low-energy systems embedded throughout the design.
Steel portal frames and closed-system timber infill panels provide a robust, well-insulated envelope, while external metal sheet cladding and coloured fibre cement panels ensure durability and low maintenance.
Integrated PV panels and air source heat pumps will help minimise operational costs and support long-term sustainability of the units.
Alongside the buildings, the wider proposal sets up future phases of development, including serviced plots and potential modular spaces for start-ups.
The business facilities, once complete, will offer flexibility to the growing organisations that are benefiting from the advantages of Inverness Campus as a business location and will ultimately bring benefits to communities across the region." - Charlie Lawrence, Head of Property and Infrastructure at HIE
