MòR Beers

MoR Beers is an independent artisanal microbrewery based in Kellas, producing real ales and craft beers in bottles, cask and keg. The brewery operates out of the lower levels of a Grade C listed former mill building on falling ground adjacent to a burn.

The spaces were poorly laid out and on different levels, requiring a lot of manhandling of raw materials, kegs and bottles. To the rear of the brewery, an external store was demolished to allow for the construction of a new timber-clad extension to house numerous fermentation vessels and brite tanks. Door openings were created between buildings to make the circulation between the spaces more direct.

Meanwhile, the upper levels of the building are used as residential accommodation. The cottage suffered from building fabric defects and layout and access issues which we addressed over a series of internal alterations to create a better standard of habitation and usage.

The brewery extension facilitates a more efficient production process and will, in time, allow it to increase output as demand for its beers increases. The project will help secure the future of the cottage and this young rural business.
