New-build House, Fife

Andrew Black Design was successful in gaining revised planning for the site of former Fordelhill Farm in Drumoig to include three new houses and the demolition of a section, conversion and extension of a stone bothy. The original farmhouse remains but is outwith the application site.

We are pleased that planning permission has been approved for the first of the four plots to be developed. The new four bed house sits within a plot size of 1779m2 and although the design is contemporary, the proportions, composition and materials echo its rural setting.

The building features a traditional slate pitched roof, modern larch cladding and generous glazing sections allowing for better passive solar gain and energy efficiency. Through use of uncoursed rubble sandstone on the southern gable, the building also draws similarities to both the bothy building and the old farmhouse within the wider development.
