New Milne House

This large individual house has been designed to provide a contemporary living environment while externally, through use of natural and traditional materials, linking with surrounding properties.

The entrance opens out towards a large curved feature staircase, which creates zones in the open plan entrance floor. Sitting above the Dighty Burn, the setting is very much in the countryside, although the house is certainly not country style.

Internal spaces include large light spaces with contrasting bespoke details. All materials have been handpicked for quality and durability.
The lighting system has been designed in conjunction with ‘Pyramid Presentations’ to allow complete control of all lighting functions, with sound throughout the house similarly controlled.

Andrew Black Design later designed the garden in a minimalist Japanese style and also created a large bespoke garage.

The original concept for this project was conceived by ARKTX and subsequently developed and executed by Andrew Black Design.
