Red Lion Holiday Park, Arbroath

We have made planning applications on behalf of our client, Perthshire Caravans, for alterations and refurbishment of the Seafront Leisure Centre at the Red Lion Holiday Park, together with a site extension that will increase the total number of holiday caravans to more than 300.

Leisure Centre Alterations and Refurbishment

The refurbishment of the leisure centre building will enhance both the functionality and aesthetics of the dated complex, which is set to open its amenities to the public.

Internal alterations focus on creating modern, open plan spaces, including transforming the former swimming pool into a soft play area and redeveloping the first floor to include a family restaurant and function suite.

External alterations involve rejuvenating elevations with natural stone and zinc cladding and installing new windows. A large balcony will extend the upper floor area into the exterior and allow visitors to enjoy the stunning sea views offered by the site. The refurbishment also includes the upgrade to low carbon technologies in the leisure centre and the installation of solar PV panels.

Landscaping plans aim to create a visually appealing and environmentally friendly 63-space car park area, equipped with electric vehicle charging points.

Site Extension

A second planning application has also been submitted to extend the existing caravan park and includes proposals for 30 new static caravans on an elevated field to the rear of the leisure centre.

The landscaping design seeks to enhance biodiversity, with existing trees supplemented with new planting to create boundary definition and wildlife habitats throughout the site.

It is anticipated that offering more accommodation and improved facilities on an already popular site will benefit the local tourist industry, providing a base for visitors to the area.
