Andrew Black
Director, BSc BArch (Hons) RIBA RIAS
Having launched Andrew Black Design in 2002, Andrew is particularly skilled at integrating exterior and interior architecture. He works closely with clients, stakeholders and committee groups to develop their briefs and produces imaginative solutions, within limited budgets and timescales, to balance client requirements and stakeholder agendas, identifying key project drivers while maintaining the support of all stakeholders.
Having acted as Architect as well as Developer on our recent project, The Mews, to convert a B listed group of buildings into an award-winning creative consultancies hub, Andrew understands our clients’ concerns during construction projects. His collaborative approach to consultation with the local authority, Dundee City Council, was a critical factor in the delivery of this project, allowing us to complete within a tight timescale and constrained budget.
He also leads technical projects, where attention to detail is paramount, for example in high-end interior projects with many design team members, specialist trades and sub-contractors, and can skilfully co-ordinate their work to ensure that the work carried out meets the required standards of workmanship. Relevant projects include Ladies Lake, a bespoke house in St Andrews, which won the 2016 DIA Supreme Award, a purpose-built leisure facility for Loch Earn Leisure Park, and the award-winning Conversion of B listed steading to modern serviced offices . He has also designed a bespoke 5 star rural Hideaway in Angus.
