Andrew Black
Director, BSc, BArch (Hons), RIBA, RIAS
Having launched Andrew Black Design in 2002, Andrew has built up the award-winning practice with the help of a supportive and talented team. He is particularly skilled at integrating exterior and interior architecture. Andrew works closely with clients, stakeholders and committee groups to develop their briefs and produces imaginative solutions, within limited budgets and timescales. He is adept at balancing client requirements and stakeholder agendas, identifying key project drivers while maintaining the support of all parties.
Andrew also leads technical projects, where attention to detail is paramount, for example in high-end interior projects with many design team members, specialist trades and sub-contractors, and can co-ordinate their work to ensure that it meets required standards.
He currently leads the design team for the multi-use development in Falkland for Scotch Whisky Investments. Other noteworthy projects include Ladies Lake, a bespoke house in St Andrews, which won the 2016 DIA Supreme Award, a purpose-built leisure facility for Loch Earn Leisure Park, and the award-winning conversion of our own category B listed studio.
Out of the office, Andrew is a lover of the outdoors, spending time in the hills where he can. He also has a passion for furniture making, which he pursues from his self-built workshop at the bottom of his garden.
