Mixed-Use Development for Scotch Whisky Investments
Scotch Whisky Investments Ltd is an international business involved in the whisky trade investment sector. The company has a license to offer financial product investment in the form of bottles and casks of whisky issued by the Dutch Authority for Financial Markets. One of the company goals is to create knowledge worldwide about investing in whisky. Consequently they wish to create a knowledge centre as part of the proposed mixed use development.
The proposed development is to be located on the vacant former St John’s Works site to the south of Falkland which has been selected as it is considered to be the ‘birth place’ of whisky.
The proposals are for a mixed-use regeneration scheme incorporating a new headquarters building and will offer significant community benefits and economic development.
The main building would host the Scotch Whisky Investment company’s administrative operations and function as a base for its community of investors. A museum is proposed and educational facilities e.g. a library and auditorium in the building will support the dissemination of knowledge about whisky and its investment potential to a worldwide audience. There will also be hospitality facilities, including restaurants, visitor accommodation, and a shop. It will be set in an extensive landscaped grounds largely accessible to the public.
